Giant Fire Beetle

The Giant Fire Beetle is, for once, more nuisance than terror: a deep-cave beetle the size of a cat, its body lit from within by glowing glands that cast a steady red-gold light. The miners of the Iron Hills prize those glands above the beetle itself, for a pair of them will light a tunnel for days without smoke or flame. The beetle defends itself only by biting, and not very well; the danger is less the beetle than what its glow draws out of the dark to feed on it.
