Giant Toad

The Giant Toad is the Giant Frog's uglier, slower cousin: a warty, bloated thing the size of a calf, squatting in the muck of the Ashen Marsh and croaking through the night in a chorus that has driven more than one marsh-hermit to distraction. It hunts as the frog does, by tongue and ambush, but it is hardier and more stubborn, and its swallowed prey has been known to live a short, dreadful while inside it. The marsh-folk render its fat for lamp-oil and try not to think too hard about it.
