Giant Wasp

The Giant Wasp is a wasp grown to the size of a hawk, and every bit as aggressive as its small kin, which is to say murderously so. Its sting carries a venom that does not kill outright but paralyzes, for the wasp does not eat its prey - it stings it stiff, drags it to the nest, and lays its eggs in the still-living body. The nests are found in hollow trees and the eaves of ruins, vast papery horrors, and the folk who find one learn to burn it from a distance and never, ever to climb up for a look.
