The Lorekeeper's Tome

The Paladin is the oath-bound warrior, armored melee married to the divine. A Paladin is no Fighter's equal at pure war, nor a Cleric's at pure prayer, but stands alone in being both at once - and against the slow pull of the Drawing and those who serve it, that union is worth more than either gift apart. They fight in heavy armor and call on a measure of the Radiant Flame: to heal with a laid-on hand, to bless, to ward, and to smite what the Dark has touched. They tend toward the Light and toward Order, though no oath compels it. Where the darkness presses hardest, it is often a Paladin who holds the door.
