The Swamp Dragon is the least majestic of all the wyrm-kind and among the more unpleasant: a squat, broad, foul-smelling dragon that wallows in the deep marsh, its hide crusted with weed and filth, its breath a noxious mix of poison and rot rather than clean elemental fury. It lacks the soaring menace of the chromatic dragons and makes up for it in sheer disgusting tenacity, lurking half-submerged in the bog to drag down whatever wades within reach. The marsh-folk fear it less for its grandeur - it has none - than for its patience, and for the simple fact that one never sees it until it has already struck.
