The Emerald of the Crown

The Emerald of the Crown is one of the seven jewels that once adorned the Obsidian Crown, the great regalia of the old kings, lost and scattered when the Cataclysm broke the world. None now know where the seven came to rest. The Emerald is the seeing-stone: a bearer who carries it finds their eyes opened to hidden and distant things - secrets, far sights, the shapes that lie behind the surface of the world. But every jewel of the Crown carries a curse beneath its gift, and the Emerald's is a slow corruption of the very sight it grants: false visions, whispers at the edge of seeing, until a weak bearer can no longer trust their own eyes.
