The Lorekeeper's Tome

Lord Veyr Mourn is a necromancer of the deepest and most dangerous order, and the keeper of the Obsidian Crown on its lonely island in the southeast of the Reach. Where lesser death-arcanists raise the rotting dead, Veyr Mourn has done something far rarer and more chilling: he has bound to his service a living dragon, the ancient black wyrm Vyrmordax the Caustic, and the two together have warded the Crown's island against all comers for longer than any record holds. What he intends for the Crown - whether he guards it for a master, for himself, or simply because he has forgotten any purpose but the keeping - is unknown, and may be unknown even to him. He is the gravest mortal foe the party will face on the long road, the last hand between them and the relic the whole world turns upon, and he does not mean to let it go.
