The Elves are the long-lived folk of the Reach, and length of years has made them keepers of the arcane. Where others must labour to learn a working, an Elf seems half to remember it, as though the structure of the world were a language spoken in the cradle. They are slighter of frame than Humans and quicker of mind, and the cost of that fineness is a certain fragility - an Elf endures less hard use of the body than a Dwarf or a Dragonkin. Charm and sleep slide off them more easily than off other folk, a small mercy of their long discipline. They make the Reach's finest wizards and its keenest archers, and a poor showing in the front rank of any shield-wall.
