Halflings

Halflings are the small folk, and the whole Reach underestimates them, which is precisely how they like it. They are quick of hand and quicker of foot, and fortune follows them about with a devotion that no scholar of the Athenaeum has ever managed to explain - a Halfling falls and lands well, gambles and wins, walks into danger and walks out whistling. No people in the Reach is so lucky, and few are so quietly capable. They slip through where larger folk cannot and vanish where larger folk are seen. They are not strong, and a Halfling swinging a great axe is a comedy; but a Halfling in the shadows with a dagger is no joke at all.
