Mimic

The Mimic is the bane of every greedy delver: a shapeshifting predator that disguises itself as the very things adventurers most want to find - a chest, a door, a chair, a glittering pile of coin - and waits, perfectly still, for a hand to reach out. Then the treasure sprouts teeth. Its false flesh is impossibly adhesive, gluing the victim fast while it feeds, and its disguise is good enough to fool all but the most careful eye. Experienced delvers prod suspicious chests with a pole and never, ever sit down to rest on a conveniently placed bench in a monster-haunted ruin.
