The Lorekeeper's Tome

The Sea Cave Lurker haunts the flooded sea-caves and tidal grottoes of the Western Coast, a tentacled ambusher that lies in the dark water beneath the surface, waiting for the shadow of something passing along the cave's edge. It strikes upward, wrapping its prey in cold, strong arms and dragging them off the rocks and down into the lightless flooded dark of its lair. Smugglers and wreck-divers who work the coastal caves trade grim stories of the Lurkers, and of companions who were there one moment, gripping the same ledge, and simply gone the next, with only a swirl in the black water to mark the place.
