The Arcane
Term
The arcane is the working of structure - the art of reaching into the bones of the world and bending what is already there. It draws on nothing in the heavens: not the Living Sun, not the Dark, not the Pale Sister. The arcane practitioner borrows instead from the same deep order the Builders themselves worked in, the hidden architecture beneath all things, and reshapes it - fire and force, ice and illusion, the folding of distance. This is the art of the Wizard, the Spellblade, and the arcane half of the Bishop. Because it answers to no sun, the arcane is the one power untouched by the quarrel of the three faiths. It simply works, for any hand disciplined enough to wield it.
