The Builders are the vanished makers of the elder world - those who raised the Hold against the Drawing and left behind ruins and records that the present age can barely read. They are gone now; the game itself is named for their fall, the Arkenfall. Their works outlast them everywhere in the Reach: foundations no one living could lay, mechanisms still turning, knowledge sealed in places the bold and the foolish go looking for. To understand the Builders is to understand what the world is for, and why it is failing. Their ruins are one of the few honest sources of the oldest truths.
