The Pale Sister

The Pale Sister is the moon, and she makes no light of her own. What falls from her at night is borrowed - part the warm light of the Living Sun, part the firelight of the Crown that rings the Dark Sun. She cannot reflect the dark itself, for darkness casts nothing back; but she catches the fire at its edge, and so her glow is a mixed thing, cold and silver and secondhand, light that has touched the dark and returned changed. The Greyfallen take her as their sign: the one body that sees both suns and belongs to neither.
