Wight

The Wight is the barrow-dead: a warrior or lord of some elder age whose will was strong enough that it did not wholly leave the bones when the breath did. It lies in its tomb, dry and preserved, until the living disturb its rest - and then it rises, cold-eyed and terrible, to defend the grave-goods and the silence it has kept for centuries. A Wight is no mindless thing; it remembers pride and possession and the warmth of life it has lost, and it hates that warmth in others. Its grip drains the strength from the living, and the barrows it guards are best left unopened by those who value their years.
