Cave Bear

The Cave Bear is the great bear of the Reach's deep places and cold uplands: a shaggy mountain of muscle and claw that dens in the mouths of caverns and emerges starving and furious in the lean seasons. It is bigger than any common bear, fearless to the point of stupidity, and fiercely territorial - a party that wanders into its den finds out very quickly that there is no reasoning and very little fighting with a roused Cave Bear, only running, and bears run faster than men.
