Dire Wolf

The Dire Wolf is the wolf made terrible: a beast the size of a pony, with jaws that can crack a thighbone and the same patient pack-cunning as its smaller kin, scaled up into something genuinely deadly. They run the deep forests of the Silverwood and the northern woods, often leading packs of common wolves who defer to them as the strongest hunter. A pack with a Dire Wolf at its head is no longer a nuisance to be driven off with fire; it is a hunt, and the party may not be the hunters.
