A single rat is nothing; a Swarm of Rats is a living tide, hundreds of bodies moving as one, flowing up out of the sewers and ruins in a squealing carpet that climbs, bites, and overwhelms. A blade is near useless against it - one cannot kill a flood with a sword - and fire or flight serve far better. The swarm strips what it covers and moves on, and the deep places of the Reach's cities hold more of them than any honest citizen wishes to know.
