Sea Serpent

The Sea Serpent is the dragon of the deep water, a vast coiling wyrm long enough to ring a ship and strong enough to crush it, the oldest and truest terror of every sailor who has ever crossed the Island Seas. It rises from the depths without warning, looping its great body around hull and mast, and drags ship and crew together down into the dark. Some are said to be old beyond reckoning, lurking in the deepest trenches, surfacing only to feed. A captain who sees the long wake and the rising coils gives the order every sailor dreads - hard about, and pray the serpent has eaten recently.
