Aurathrax the Radiant is the oldest living thing in all the Reach, a vast silver-and-platinum dragon who lived among the Builders themselves in the age before the Cataclysm - not as their enemy but as a part of their daily world, a source of counsel, of comfort, and of protection. He was there when the world was whole, and he was there when it fell, and alone among living things he remembers all of it: the Builders, their works, the long unmaking of the age that followed. He is no foe to be fought but a keeper of memory, dwelling now in the high north, benevolent and unimaginably old, and he has waited across three thousand years of solitude for the day someone would climb to him with the right questions to ask.
