The Long Fall
Event
The age that followed the Cataclysm is sometimes called the Long Fall, for it has been less a recovery than a slow and managed decline. The survivors did not rebuild the Builders' world - they could not; the knowledge was lost with its makers - but raised a humbler one in its shadow, kingdoms of timber and quarried stone among the bones of the age before. From that long rebuilding came the seven kingdoms of the present Reach, the Cathedral of the Radiant Flame and its rivals, the cities and roads and holds the living know. It has not been a peaceful age, but it has been a stubborn one, the people of the Reach clinging to what they have rebuilt even as the ruins around them whisper of how much more there once was. Three thousand years on, the Long Fall continues still - and there are those who fear it is quietly nearing its end.
