The Lorekeeper's Tome

The Opal of the Crown is one of the seven jewels of the Obsidian Crown, the lost regalia of the old kings, scattered in the ruin of the Cataclysm. None know where the seven came to rest. The Opal is the stone of balance - the holding of opposites in true and even measure. A bearer who carries it stands resistant to all harms and steady against every force that would move them. But balance held too hard becomes a brittle thing, and that is the Opal's curse: a rigidity of body and will, a stiffness that costs the bearer their quickness, until one who cannot bend can no longer act in time.
