The Reef Crawler is the Western Coast's answer to the deep-cave horrors: a low, armored, many-legged scavenger that picks its way over the reefs and through the flooded sea-caves of the shore. Its plated shell shrugs off glancing blows, and it fights with serrated forelimbs that can pin a man against the rock. They are drawn to blood in the water, and a wounded swimmer in reef-crawler country is in a race they usually lose.
