Where the goblin is a cowardly skirmisher, the Hobgoblin is a soldier. Larger, stronger, and disciplined where its lesser kin are a rabble, the hobgoblin fights in ranks, holds a line, and obeys a chain of command with a grim professionalism that makes a hobgoblin warband far more dangerous than any number of loose goblins. They armor themselves properly, drill their troops, and treat war as a craft. A party that mistakes a hobgoblin company for a goblin warren makes that mistake exactly once.
