Darkmantle

The Darkmantle is a smaller cousin of the Cloaker and twice as unnerving for one reason: it brings the dark with it. Clinging to cave ceilings disguised as a lump of rock, it drops onto passing prey and wraps about the head and shoulders - but as it attacks it exudes a magical darkness that snuffs every torch and lantern in an instant, plunging the whole party into blindness at the exact moment one of their number is being smothered. The sudden, total black is the worst of it; many a party has wounded its own in the panicked, sightless flailing that follows.
