The Age of the Builders
Event
Long ago - three thousand years and more - the Reach belonged to the Builders, and it was a different world. Theirs was an age of wonders the present can scarcely imagine: great works of stone and craft and deeper arts besides, raised across the whole of the island, of which only broken towers, corroded halls, and half-buried foundations now remain. The people of the Reach live among those ruins without truly understanding them, farming fields bounded by Builder-stone, sheltering in the shells of Builder-keeps, naming their children for Builder-words whose meaning is long lost. What the Builders were - whether men greater than men, or something else entirely - the scholars argue and cannot settle. What is certain is that they made a whole and shining world, and that it ended, all at once, in the Cataclysm.
