The Crown of Fire

The Crown of Fire is the ring of flame that burns around the edge of the Dark Sun - the only light that black disc offers, and not its own. It has been brightening. The scholars who watch the sky and dare to write down what they see record that the Crown burns wider and fiercer than it did in their grandparents' charts, and they understand what that means even if they cannot say it in the open: the Drawing is rising. The Pale Sister reflects this fire; it is part of what mixes into her cold and borrowed light.
